Outro S5 E3
Welcome back survivors!
Take a deep breath of the clear, cool, crisp bunker air as the cold autumn breezes jiggle the cobwebs by the door and sweep the summer dust away.
I won’t encumber you with too many challenging concepts this week, because I know it is a busy and testing time of year for people.
I know it is for me, and it has always been that way.
For some reason there seems to be a great overlapping of urgent things that need to be done and worrying stresses that clump together like angry spiders in the corner of your mind as autumn turns to fall.
So all I can do is give you some bad news and some good news and some advice.
First the bad news; it usually gets worse before it gets better. And this may just be a construct of our overwrought imaginations, but just as the stress bucket is filled to the brim without any room for more, the universe, or some malevolent soul, will toss one more brick on the pile.
It always does.
So, when that happens, all you can do is remember to laugh.
Laugh at the absurdity of our lives and our concerns and the stresses that we let them generate.
Just smile and laugh.
Now, the good news; you got through these times before and you will again. This is not new. Even if you handle yourself poorly in the fray and toss of your personal battles, you will come out the other side.
You always do.
And you’ll wonder what happened and why you lost your cool.
Finally, the advice; when you are overwhelmed, (and by the way, Never ever use that phrase; “I am overwhelmed” it’s bad mojo. In fact, if you find yourself thinking ‘I am overwhelmed.’ That is a primary leading indicator that you are getting into a bad spot and need to take some mitigating actions), but when you find there are too many dangerous and daunting things on your to-do list, due tomorrow, piling up, threatening to totter over and crush your spirit, pick one.
Pick one of those things and focus on it until it is done. Don’t flutter about dripping your energy on all the terribly tasking things lined up to be attended to. Pick one and get it done. This way there will be one less thing and you will have proven that you are in fact not helpless, but control your own power and destiny.
Secondly, in these times of stress try to look outside your own head. Everyone else is fighting battles, maybe the same battles, be kind, be understanding, offer a sympathetic ear, if not a hand up.
I have a very good book recommendation for you. I would recommend that you listento it on audio, which is what I did, and it made me very happy. It is read by the author and she really puts heart behind the words.
The book is Big Magic, by Eliabeth Gilbert.
I highly recommend it, especially for you creatives who are struggling to understand the worth of your art.
As always links are in the show notes. I will post the texts of these comments on my website at Oldmanapocalypse.com
Everything is moving forward smoothly, or as smoothly as life ever does, in my world.
Let me know if I can be of any help.
And keep surviving.
